Beginnings
Family's Choice Internet is a privately held company founded in 1998. The company was
conceived when the founder, a committed Christian and former
pastor, already concerned with the growing problems associated
with internet use, wanted to provide a safe enviornment for families online.
Family's Choice was founded as a way to provide families with safe
internet access - and thus a safer computing enviroment - without the need to worry
about the dangers of kids stumbling onto pornographic web sites, or child predators
lurking behind the next chat room just waiting for a child to come along.
Goals
Family's Choice primary goal is to provide safe Internet access for
families by proactively filtering out sites inappropriate for families. However, our
goal is not just to filter; our goal is to provide a safe online environment for the
entire family. To that end Family's Choice has:
Worked with software vendors to provide additional software to enhance
the online safety of every member of the family.
Promotes the Safe Surf
rating system which is another means to help keep familes safe on the internet.
Additionally, we believe that the family has a fundamental right to
safely access the publicly used internet just as they have a fundamental right to safely
access publicly used parks, shops, etc. So Family's Choice has structured its product
offerings not to penalize families by charging additional fees for the online safety
services it provides. Family's Choice is proud to be able to offer free filtering, Anti-Cyberpredator software,
and online safety
guides and tips in addition to our filtered internet access
offerings order to help families create and maintain a safe online environment.
Family's Choice also promotes of Christian values by supporting
Christian Churches and non-profit organizations. We do this by donating a portion of
online fees paid by subscribers who indicated their desire to have a portion of their
online fees go to that organization during the signup process. For more information,
