A Barrington man
was arrested after police said he tried to arrange a sexual
encounter with a Carpentersville officer posing as a
14-year-old girl on the Internet.
Mark S. Johnson, 44, was charged Tuesday with two counts of
child pornography and one count of indecent solicitation of a
child, Carpentersville police said.
Police Lt. Tony Depippo
posed as a 14-year-old girl on the Internet and began
communicating with Johnson via computer, Sgt. Ken Durnil said.
Police said Johnson sent sexually explicit photographs via
the Internet to Depippo and arranged a meeting at the
Meadowdale Shopping Center Tuesday night.
Several police officers were waiting for Johnson at the
shopping center, Durnil said.
He was being held Wednesday in Kane County Jail in lieu of
$1 million bail.
